A hobby that grew.
In 1993 Nanny Glerups made for the first time a pair of slippers
from natural wool from her own Gotland sheep. Friends and family
received them so well, that Nanny started a small hobby production.
This was the beginning of the company Glerups dk.
Since 1993, Nanny and her husband have worked hard to develop
and improve both product and manufacturing processes. In the
beginning Nanny could make 2 pairs a day. Since then, many tools
and machines have been developed to meet the demands of addicted
customers everywhere.
Made from 100% pure, natural wool.
The wool is treated naturally, washed in soft water and trimmed
afterwards. The wool is then made into socks, felted with steam and
finally fitted with soles of pure calfskin.
Additional Information
The slippers may 'shed'!
Due to the natural treatment, you may still find traces of small
vegetable fibres in the felt. In addition, the slippers may 'shed' in the
first days of use. The coarsest fibres simply work their way out of the
felt, and can easily be plucked off.
Next to your skin:
The qualities of wool become entirely apparent when worn directly
next to the human skin, and we fully recommend you wear your
slippers on your bare feet.
Washing:
Glerups can be washed by hand in warm soapy water. Use regular
powdered laundry detergent, or for more stubborn grease stains, use
liquid dish detergent. Leave them in the water for 15 minutes, rub
them clean, rinse out the soap and spin dry. Put your feet
in the moist shoes and pad them into shape. Washing on
wool is at your own risk!!
