Ideal for tripping, the Calabogie 16 is an asymmetrical canoe that paddles easily as either a tandem or solo. Its shallow draft makes it very fast and its moderate rocker allows it to go straight, yet being able to perform sharp maneuvers very easily. Wider at the waterline and narrower at the gunwales, the Calabogie allows users to keep their paddle blade close to the boat for increased efficiency, especially while paddling solo.
This carbon layup is the premium laminate construction of our lightweight infusion moulded canoes. Combined with integrated Carbon Kevlar trim, this system offers incredible weight savings and strength.

Bought new in the spring. Paddled about 20 days in the back country. A dream to portage, very light and well balanced. Seems to take the punishment pretty well (I was afraid it would be too delicate for hard tripping). Did re-epoxy the hull with System Three clearcoat epoxy to make sure none of the abasions went through to the carbon fibre. Did 6 days solo, paddles very well reversed from the bow seat balance in this config is great with 60-80 pounds at the front; doesn't weather vane in the wind and handles heavy waves very well. Very fast and agile. Only complaint is that the plastic end caps are fragile and will have to be replaced at some time way too soon (I've never had one deteriorate on a boat before certainly not nearly this quickly)
