A recessed standing area provides added stability and a lower centre of gravity for optimal paddling position. Shapers notes: Moderate rocker in the nose and tail provides lift and glide even in choppy conditions. Softer rails in the front, progressing too harder rails in the tail assist in glide and release of water on the flats. Our wider tail profile and 30 maximum width provides ample stability for beginner stand-up paddlers. Suited to beginners up to 170lbs / advanced up to 200 lbs.

The Blu Wave Catalina 11.4 is an incredible SUP! Its light weight makes carrying and lifting to a roof rack easy for one person. It has great displacement and glide, and maneuvers well on either flat or choppy water. The board is wide enough to provide stability but doesn't cause your paddle to bang against the rail. And it is stable enough to climb back on after a swim without flipping it over! It has bungee tie-downs and can be loaded front and back for all-day touring. Even with the slight recess, the deck is comfortable to be used for yoga, and to stand on for extended periods. The blue epoxy and bamboo laminate make a striking combination that really stands out on the water. I tested nearly 20 boards before selecting the Catalina and have never regretted the decision. After 3 years, I’m still extremely happy with my board.
