The Sunrise Kayaks Surfski is a true pocket rocket. At 14 feet long, it is on the short side for a surfski, but it carries enough speed for experienced paddlers to enjoy in rough conditions, while having all the stability that beginners need to get into surfski paddling. It also boasts bow and stern hatches, which let it pull double duty as a touring kayak too.
Whether you are an absolute beginner worrying about staying upright, or an experienced paddler looking for a stable craft in which to hone your surf zone skills, the width, combined with the voluminous rails, create an extremely stable ride.
The Surfski is standard fitted with an understern rudder, and is compatible with an overstern rudder (sold separately). It also comes standard with a custom-designed venturi self-bailer.
Hull Design: The rounded hull and soft edges make for a smooth ride in turbulent conditions, with just enough of a keel towards the bow and stern to cut through the water and help tracking. It has a long waterline, which makes it fast for its length. The aggressive, high-volume bow punches through waves with ease. The stern has a lot of volume right behind the seat, so as to create stability when going through waves, while tapering towards the end for more controlled swell-surfing.
- Handles smoothly even in turbulent conditions
- Wide geometry and generous rails for confidence-building stability
- Comes with a custom-designed venturi self-bailer
